Budapest in August is relentless. The Hungaroring is tight, twisting and gives drivers almost nowhere to pass, so the whole race becomes an hour and a half of holding on in the heat.
I built the background first, layering reds and oranges wet into wet until the canvas looked like it was radiating rather than reflecting. The circuit sits on top of it, outlined in black and edged in white so the shape lifts clear of the heat behind it rather than getting swallowed by it.
