This one started with the idea that connection is rarely a straight line. The thread runs the full height of the canvas, bending back on itself twice, and the star sits exactly where it crosses the centre — not at the end of the journey, in the middle of it.
The blue was built up in slow circular strokes so the light seems to come from behind the star rather than off the surface. The thread and the star are raised in texture paste, so they catch the light differently as you move past the piece and the whole thing changes depending on where you stand.
